About Us

Hello, my name is Lucy and I am an entrepreneur, wife, mum to two young children and a cat herder who is seriously addicted to knitting, drinking tea and expanding my wool stash! I own Woolaballoo, an independent Local Yarn Store based in Hexham, Northumberland. We are the North East’s premier speciality knitting shop or as we prefer to say “yarn boutique” selling high quality knitting wool and yarns, knitting patterns, needles and other accessories. We sell all the top brands including, AK Traditions, Artesano, Adriafil, Colinette, Katia, Noro, Millamia, Manos del Uruguay, and selected Rico lines. The Woolaballoo team are passionate about knitted garments as there’s something so very personal and unique about them – you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Ravelry and leave us comments on the new site about what you would like us to add to our every expanding yarn collection.

I’m a teacher by trade but a knitter by choice so I thought I’d finally give in to my first love and set up the yarn boutique, so if you’re asking yourself “where can I buy gorgeous yarn online”, try us out! We hope to soon be one of your favourite stores.

Come and visit

We have just opened a new store in the North East of England and you can find us at:

Tel: 0191 580 0103

We are open Monday – Saturday from 10am until 5pm. Woolaballoo is also a prominent online retailer, but customers are more than welcome to order over the telephone if they prefer this option instead of paying online.  You can often find us at events across the UK and we will be exhibiting extensively throughout the 2013-14 Season. So if you are looking for knitting shops in Northumberland, Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham, Gateshead or Tyne and Wear then stop by our our shop for a full range of knitting supplies.

Can’t find what you’re looking for?

We are hoping to make Woolaballoo the best online and local yarn store in the north of England with the finest knitting and crochet yarns and patterns as well as offering friendly advice and help whenever it’s required. If we can’t help you, we will always try to find someone who can, and if we don’t stock what you are looking for please ask as it may well be on our personal wishlist. Our advice is free, you only buy from us if you want to and we hope we’ve made it as easy as possible for you to purchase yarn online.

Heritage

Knitting is a hobby that is growing in popularity with people of all ages, and the range of yarns available to knitters has never been as extensive. Natural fibre yarns in gorgeous shades make knitting a real pleasure and are helping to cast off the image of knitting being an out-dated, old fashioned pursuit.

Our vision

Here at Woolaballoo we are always looking to expand our range of wool, crochet and knitting supplies and we’re getting new and exciting “must haves” in all the time. We are committed to making your shopping experience on our website as simple and enjoyable as possible. We offer discounts and special offers whenever we can to try and keep our products affordable.

Although our warehouse is based in the North East of England, we can ship orders all over the world. If you have any comments or requests we would really like to hear them. We would like you to think that we are as friendly and welcoming as your local yarn store. Contact us by telephone on 0191 580 0103 (Monday to Saturday 10am-5.00pm) or via email: info@woolaballoo.com.

Happy Knitting! x
