It seems to be permanently cold and dark these days but I really don’t mind as I go into hibernation mode at this time of year and cosy up with my knitting most evenings. At the moment I’m on a bit of a mission to finish off some of the host of unfinished articles that are littering our home. However, I simply couldn’t resist casting on a special treat when the new Millamia Finishing Touch Pattern Book arrived in store.
Temptation got the better of me and so I am now completely addicted to the gorgeous textured knits hidden within the pages of this delightful book.
Finishing Touch contains fourteen contemporary and original adult accessory knitting patterns. Including cowls, wristwarmers, hats and a stunning range of small bags and cases, all the designs are crafted from Aran weight yarn making them fast and fun to knit. The patterns span simple styles ideal for the beginner knitter through to more complicated items for the more experienced. Many of the accessories featured make great gifts too, meaning this is a book that will be used over and over. But this knit is something special, the Tilda Wrap Snood is all for me.
With a spectacular array of bright and muted shades of deliciously soft Merino Aran yarn to choose from I was torn once again…
Naturally Soft Aran Yarn is made from 100% extra fine Merino Wool.
Its super soft feel makes it ideal for adult and children’s patterns, and the lovely twist and weight means a yarn that knits up quickly and produces a beautiful result. This knits to standard Aran tension on 5mm needles.
I’m usually very decisive but in this instance there is far too much deliberation going on… Finally, I settled upon a gorgeous deep Magenta which I’m sure will show off the intricate cable detail beautifully.
I’m already well into my second ball of yarn and anticipate that this may actually be off the UFO list fairly quickly as once you have the pattern set this is a satisfying speedy knit producing a stunning effect. As a result, we can barely keep this delightful yarn on our shelves and we are all just a little bit in love with the Millamia collections this week here at Woolaballoo. Then just when we thought we were making headway this arrived…
Oh no… we can’t take any more temptation Millamia. Some people over-indulge on mince pies and mulled wine in the Festive season but I seriously think I need to go on a yarn diet in the New Year as I’ll be in the bad books if I take any more yarn over the threshold. However, this one is definitely not going to be the one that got away, the diet can wait until 1 January… Happy Winter Knitting everyone! x
