This very simple design was requested time and again at the Edinburgh Knitting and Stitching Show when our sample garment was shown off.  We are very happy to share the design with you here so that you can spoil the little people in your life. The sleeves are a cute three-quarter length but could easily be adapted to make full length if required.  My little one usually wears a contrasting long sleeved t-shirt under her jacket which adds to the overall ensemble! This pattern is the perfect wardrobe staple and the pattern can be used again and again. It is very versatile and is a unisex design with buttons that could fasten either way. Measurements and Sizes

Materials For best results knit in Adriafil Knitcol and Woolly DK but any DK weight yarn would suffice. Main Colour (MC) (2, 3, 3, 4 balls) Contrast Colour (CC) (1 ball for all sizes) 4mm Needles Tension 22 Stitches over 28 rows for a 10cm x 10cm tension swatch   Back – Sleeves and Yoke Using 4mm needles and CC cast on 25 (27, 28, 32) stitches and work 4 rows in garter stitch.  Change to MC and work 26 (30, 36, 40) rows in garter st. Place a marker at end of the last row to mark the sleeve seam.** Work 96 (108, 116, 128) rows more in garter st. Place a marker at the end of the last row to mark sleeve seam. Work 26 (30, 36, 40) rows more in garter st. Break of MC and rejoin CC and 5 rows in garter st. Cast off fairly loosely knitwise. Position markers 60 (68, 76, 84) rows from cast on and cast off edges to mark the back of the neck. Right Front – Sleeve and Yoke Work exactly as given for the Back Sleeves and Yoke to **. Work 30 (34, 36, 40) rows more in garter st. Shape Neck Next row: K to last 2 sts, k2tog. Next row: K2tog, K to end. Repeat the last 2 rows until 15 (15, 16, 16) sts remain.  Work 7 (7, 9, 9) rows straight in garter st. Buttonhole Row 1: K2, cast off next 2 sts, k to last 4 sts, cast off 2 sts, K1 Button hole Row 2: Knit, casting on 2 sts over those cast off in the previous row. Work 5 rows in garter st. Cast off fairly loosely knitwise. Left Back Front – Sleeve and Yoke With 4mm needles and MC (beg at left front edge) cast on 15 (15, 16, 16) sts and work 13 (13,15,13) rows in garter st. Shape Neck Next row: Inc in first st, K to end Next row: K to last st, inc in last st. Repeat the last 2 rows until you have 25 (27, 28, 32) sts. Work 30 (34, 36, 40) rows straight in garter st. Place a marker at the end of the last row. Work 26 (30, 36, 40) rows straight in garter st. Break of MC and join in CC work 5 rows in garter st. Cast off loosely knitwise.                    To Make Up Stitch Left Front and Right Front to the Back piece. Sew along the shoulder and sleeve top seams to back neck markers.  Sew bottom sleeve seams in place.     Neck Edging With 4mm needles and right side facing rejoin CC and pick up and K20 (21, 22, 23) Sts evenly from right front neck (approx. 1 sts from every 2 rows), 18 (20, 23, 25) Sts evenly from back neck and 20 (21, 22, 23) Sts from left front neck. In total you should have 58 (62, 67, 71) Stitches. Work 2 (2, 4, 4) rows in garter stitch. Cast off loosely knitwise.   Yoke edgings With the right side of the work facing you, using the CC pick up and K27 (30, 32, 35) Sts along right front to sleeve seam then pick up and K48 (54, 58, 64) sts across the back of the jacket and then pick up and K27 (30, 32, 35) Sts along the left front. Work 2 rows in garter st. Body Change to MC and work 42 (52, 56, 62) more rows in garter stitch then switch to CC and work 4 more rows in garter st. Cast off fairly loosely knitwise. Front Edgings (Both Alike) With 4mm needles and right side facing rejoin CC and pick up and K23 (28, 30, 33) Sts evenly from front edge of body (approx. 1 stitch from every 2 rows) and 18 (18, 22, 22) sts evenly to the top of neckband. You should have 41 (46, 52, 55) Stitches in total. Work 4 rows in garter stitch. Cast off fairly loosely knitwise. To make up Sew on buttons. Pin garment to the measurements given, place under damp cloths and leave to dry. Happy Knitting!
